Privacy Policy

Presenter Companion ("the app") is a desktop application, provided by NK Hardware LLC ("we", "us", "the seller"), that you run on your own computer. This policy explains what data the app handles and what we do and don’t collect.

The short version

The app is bring-your-own-key: your content goes to your AI provider, not to us.
We do not run analytics or telemetry in the app, and we do not receive your notes, clipboard, screenshots, meeting audio, or transcripts.
We store only what’s needed to sell you a license: your purchase email and your license/activation records.

What stays on your device

Your notes, clipboard text, screenshots, meeting transcripts, summaries, and API keys are stored locally on your computer. API keys are encrypted with your operating system’s secure storage (macOS Keychain). None of this is transmitted to us.

What goes to your AI provider

When you use an AI feature, the relevant content is sent directly from your device to the AI provider whose key you configured:

Ask AI / Explain — the text or image you ask about (plus any matching note used as context) goes to OpenAI under your own key by default (or to Anthropic/Google if you chose one of them for answers in Settings).
🎧 Listen & voice — audio is transcribed by OpenAI Whisper. This means meeting audio is sent to OpenAI even if you selected Anthropic or Google for answers. The resulting text (and answers) then follow the same path as above.

Your use of those providers is governed by their privacy policies and terms. We are not a party to that processing beyond building the app that sends it.

What we collect (purchases & licensing)

Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card number. Stripe shares with us your email and payment status.
License records: your license key, purchase email, product, and the hashed machine identifiers of the computers you activate. The machine identifier is a one-way hash — we never receive your raw hardware ID.

We use this only to issue keys, enforce activation limits, provide support, and honor refunds.

Sub-processors

Stripe — payments.
Your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) — processes the content you submit, under your own account.
Our hosting provider — runs the license server.

Retention

License and purchase records are kept while your license is active and as required for tax and accounting. You can request deletion of your account records (subject to legal retention) at the contact below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold. Contact us to exercise them.
